Trivendra Singh Rawat, is an Indian Politician and the new Chief Minister of UttaraKhand. He will be swearing in as CM today, March 18, 2017 at the Parade Ground in Dehradun. He has been selected as the 8th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, after a week of the remarkable victory of Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP).
Career:
He graduated his Master’s in Journalism, at Birla Campus, Srinagar. Soon after studies, he joined the right wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) in the year 1979, before becoming its propagandist for Dehradun region, in 1985. Following this he joined BJP and subsequently was made the organizing secretary of the Uttarakand region. He worked with a senior BJP leader ‘Lalji Tandon’. He was also actively involved in Uttarakand movement and was arrested many times.
Uttarakhand received Statehood in the year 2000 and Rawat was made the State Cadre’s BJP president. In the election held in the year 2014, he contested from Doiwala region and lost. However, this year he has won the State Assembly election from the same region and has been selected as the next CM of Uttarakhand.
