Sachchidanand Sakshi Maharaj, also known as Sakshi Maharaj, is an Indian political and religious leader. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has won 2014 election from Unnao. In 1991, he has won Indian General Election from Mathura and in 1998 from Farrukhabad. He was also a member of Rajya Shaba from 2000-2006 before being suspended for Corruption.
Career:
Initially he was a member of BJP and he won in the general elections in 1991 from Mathura and in 1998 from Farrukhabad. He was involved in Ram Janmabhoomi movement and is currently under trial as he was also accused for demolishing Babri Masjid. In 1999, he contested for Samajwadi Party, since BJP refused his ticket for Farrukhabhad and his ticket was denied in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s order, since he was associated with the murder of Brahm Dutt Dwivedi, who was a close associate of Vajpayee. Later the charges were dropped, since there was no evidence against him.
In 2005, Star TV carried out a Sting operation and found out some members were misusing MPLADS funds and Sakshi was suspended from Rajya Shaba, since he was one among them. In 2012, he again joined BJP and in 2014 election, he contested from Unnao and won.
