Ronu Majumdar, is a well known Indian Flutist, in the Hindustani Classical music tradition. He is known for his unique style of flute playing, in which he mixes the ‘Drupad Gayaki’ and ‘Laykari’. Majumdar, is credited as one of the most popular flutist among youngsters and many upcoming and budding musicians are following his style.
Career:
Born as Ranendranath Majumdar, popularly known as ‘Ronu’, started learning music from his father. He has also learnt vocal music from Pandit Laxman Prasad, on whose behest he started learning Flute. He has received numerous recognition for his performance worldwide. The bansuri flute of Hindustani Classical music which was considered to be a folk instrument and Ronu’s specialty in that instrument is ‘Shank Bansuri’.
Ronu Majumdar, is among the most popular musicians for his creative improvisations. In addition, to his concerts all over India during music festivals, he has also participated in Festival of India, conducted in Moscow. He has performed in Europe, United States, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Australia etc. Recently, he has conducted a concert of 5,378 flutists on one stage called Venu Naad, under the banner of ‘Art of Living’.
Currently, he is one of the jury members in the famous Hindi singing reality competition, ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs’, aired on Zee TV.
