Gurmehar Kaur is a Literature student of Delhi University studying in Lady Shri Ram College for Women. She is a Peace Ambassador. She has come to the limelight for her stand against ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad).
She is the daughter of Kargil Martyr Captain Mandeep Singh who died in the Kargil War 1999. She advocates peace through social media like Twitter, Facebook, Youtube etc. Currently, she has more than 15,000 followers on Facebook and around 9,500 on Twitter.
She has been a part of Peace Campaign on Youtube along with Ram Subramanian where she tells her life story using placards. Through this video, she explains how her childhood was and how she evolved to be a good human being.
Her Facebook post is now doing rounds with a lot of comments and attracting many youth students. She is also been aired in NDTV for her statement against ABVP. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has added voice to her online post as well. The post is about the hooliganism ABVP is showing against the young students, which is curbing the democratic nature of the society. This post has attracted Rape threats from the members of ABVP. She also changed her DP protesting against ABVP.
